What Hat Are You Wearing?
I had a nice long talk with a far away friend yesterday and we got started talking about how we all wear different hats both in our everyday life and at different times of life. She was saying that at some point, she would like to get a bunch of different hats to keep in her studio and would so enjoy putting them on and off depending on what role she was playing: Mom, Artist, Friend, Confidant, Coach, Teacher, Student, Cook, Cleaner, Laundress, Patriot, Leader, Follower, Lady at Tea, Seductress, Hermit etc etc. We were laughing so hard over all the hats we would have to have and what hat would fill what role!
So just for fun….here are some hats for you to choose from today….which ones are YOU wearing? Which ones do you WANT to wear? What is missing from your etheric hat stash?

I so agree. I've noticed that different aspects of my personality emerge when I'm with different friends.
ReplyDeleteToday, I'm wearing a nurses' cap for my cat. Later today, I'll literally be wearing a riding helmet for my horseback riding lesson.
At some point today, I would like to wear the hat of a successful saleswoman and writer.
What's missing from my hatrack at the moment is a French chapeau.
Too many for sure!!! I would like to slowly give away my Preschool Teacher hat and more regularly wear my Artists hat. My Mom and Wife hats - I think I will keep for a while. The Photographer hat is new and has not lost it attraction for me. The friend hat - yeah..I'd like to wear that one more in the real world..it gets a wonderful workout here. So..maybe we will loose the cleaning hat or picking up after everyone hat - lol. Good luck with that huh? Great post!!! Namaste, Sarah
ReplyDeleteI wish I could wear the joker hat. I'm too serious at times!
ReplyDeleteCarolynn! A French chapeau! What would it look like? Something they would wear in the south of France no doubt! Love you comment! I do hope Bear is doing better. xo
ReplyDeleteDiane, I love that! A joker hat....I could use that sometimes too! Great answer! xo
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I have worn many, many hats through the year, but I love the hats I now wear...wife, mother of adult children, special ed secretary, crafter and business owner to name a few. I would like to wear a hat that said, "Retired", but that one will have to wait a little bit.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your comment on my blog about cereal...I eat gluten free as much as possible and don't drink cow's milk. There are tons of awesome gluten free cereals and Rice Dream is a great substitute for cow's milk. I have cereal almost every single day. You can still have your cereal and milk!
ReplyDeleteKathy, you do wear many hats! I love the idea of a "retired" hat! Once someone gave my husband a ball cap with the words "Old Fart" on it. I was laughing so hard....And then they handed me one with "Old Fart's Wife". It wasn't quite so funny! Yes, definitely "Retired"! xo
ReplyDeleteI love this image of all the different hats - of this bunch, I'd choose the Irish one - isn't there a great deal of luck that comes with it?!? ;)
ReplyDeleteActually, I was just thinking today that since I started answering the creative call in me and allowing the world to see it, my life is feeling very integrated. I don't feel like I am playing so many roles anymore, but simply being me, wearing the "Silke" hat...
Hugs, Silke
Hee heeee! So many roles, so many hats. I like wearing the jester hat - playing the fool - as there is nothing I like better than to make someone laugh (even when I do it accidentally). I need to wear my writer's hat today - a beret perhaps? Actually I often do wear a hat when I work - cos it is so freeeeeezing here in my house in New Zealand!! I wear a thermal fleece hat - stylish or what? ;o)
ReplyDeleteSilke, how great! A hat for luck of the Irish! But just wonderful you feel you can wear the Silke hat now...well done!
ReplyDeleteStoneweaver, New Zealand! One of my favorite places on the planet but I know what you mean about wearing a hat to stave off the cold. It was in NZ down near Mt. Cook that I realized why people used to wear night caps. I had to..reluctantly...crawl out of bed and find my knit hat to pull on in order to sleep. I've never been so cold in my life! But what a beautiful country! I read on your blog you moved there recently. I wish you well...it is such a wonderful, wonderful country.
thank you all for your wonderful comments!
I have also worn many hats in my life, but my favorite one is the one I've worn for twenty-one years, and that is my "happily married" hat. Combine that with the recently acquired "quit work early" hat and you can't go wrong. I am always singing and laughing and actually wearing hats. Take care and enjoy the hat of your choice!
ReplyDeleteI wear several hats but my favorite is the Chinese hat. It is a symbol of my putting away all the other hats I wear and sitting in my personal sanctuary, being nourished and nurtured in silence and solitude as I read, reflect and write in my journal.
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing the blue cap on backwards...just chillin:)
ReplyDeleteSusan, how great is that: your "happily married" hat! Not everyone can say that. You are truly blessed! Congratulations! I also love the "quit work early" hat! That is one I should pull out more often! Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, how lovely. You are so cool! I can just envision you sitting under that Chinese hat, writing away with a blissful look on your face! Wonderful!
Mermaid, Chillin' is good! We all need those moments don't we! xo
I am wearing a lime green baseball cap at the beach this week, getting in some sun and fun. It says, "Art Lives Here," which I didn't realize, though it is the mantra for Interlochen, is also true for me. Art does live in me, day in and day out. Duh....
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, Jan! Art really DOES live in you and then you live "artfully" and teach the rest of us to do so too! Perfect hat for you! xo
ReplyDeleteToday and hopefully tomorrow I am wearing the jokers hat :-). Come join me for some fun. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I'm so there! xoxoxo
