Food, Inc.

My husband and I just watched this film. It is quite enlightening, disgusting, and powerful. Try to see it if you can.

  1. Diantha it always boths me that we have had this information about the food industry for years and years yet we are apathetic and do very little to bring about change.
One day it will come back to haunt us. :(

  2. Oh Peggy, so well said! In the movie it says we can vote at the supermarket, with what we purchase. The problem is that the real foods are more expensive than the chips. They show a family grocery shopping and they forgo the broccoli at $1.29/pound for big bottles of soft drinks which are much cheaper. .... OR ARE THEY? The Dad has diabetes and could loose his eyesight! What is the REAL cost of those cheap foods??????

  3. Oh the world is in a mess and it is hard to know what to do when you see the extend of the awfulness of what we are doing to each other out of greed.
The funny part is that that broccoli will finally really feed and nurture people more than any other cheap food will do. A little bit of real food goes a long way and will make people feel fed and make them less wanting to snack. If they only gave it a try, they will feel more full after a real meal and they will eventually feel healthier as well.
It is good to keep repeating the message, finally something will sink in and people will see that a broccoli will feed them while the other food is just like sawdust, filling but not nourishing.
I trust all is well in your camp again?

  4. I think about this all the time...but I wonder what "we" can really do to make it change. I don't eat much meat anymore because I have noticed a dramatic change in texture & flavor over the years. I have really considered becoming a vegetarian but it will get you there too. Maybe in a few short years I will have a big enough of a garden & grow my own fruits & veggies. That would be a dream come true.

  5. Oh Wilma, you are so right! Real food satisfies more quickly and longer than junk!

We have one more surgery to go through....next week. Blogging is suffering while we put our attention on the job at hand....thanks for asking. Almost there! xo

  6. Cherokee Fox, the movie suggests that we vote at the supermarket. Even Walmart has changed to antibiotic free milk due to pressure from customers so things CAN change. vote with your wallet...like you already are. Join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) which supports local farming practices, many of which are organic, AND you get fresh local produce. Order antibiotic free grass fed beef, free range chickens and other clean meats and fish from trusted resources. We CAN do this!

  8. We do have to wake up and start protecting ourselves and our earth. Change can start with one person at a time. If we each do our part, maybe, just maybe, change will follow. Back to basics and back to farm fresh home grown. Thank you for sharing this important message. Blessings to you and yours. my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I pray for continued healing and good health to all. Love and Light, Nina P
